LAS VEGAS -- Canelo Alvarez spent all fight week explaining that he's just different and was levels above his aggressive unbeaten opponent in Mexican countryman Jaime Munguia. On Saturday night, he proved it in the ring, dominating Munguia from start to finish to retain his undisputed super middleweight title.

Alvarez, now 62-2-2 with 39 knockouts, used his superior height and reach to his advantage, keeping Munguia at bay and landing the cleaner punches throughout the fight. Munguia, who came into the fight with a record of 43-1 with 34 knockouts, never really got into a rhythm and was unable to mount a serious challenge.

Alvarez knocked Munguia down in the sixth round and was in control of the fight throughout. He landed the more accurate punches and was able to avoid Munguia's power shots. The judges scored the fight 118-110, 118-110, and 117-111, all in favor of Alvarez.

With the win, Alvarez remains the undisputed super middleweight champion and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. He has now won 10 straight fights since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013.
